About Us

Who are we?

We are a small family business based in Wandsworth, with a great passion for top quality food and an (healthy) obsession about food hygiene. Shortly after we started in April 2005, we received Wandsworth Council's Food Safety Award 2005 - no mean feat when you consider that the other winners included McDonalds and Pizza Express.

Since then we've received several other awards in recognition of our serious commitment to maintaining the highest standards in food hygiene. Receiving "FOUR STARS" in the council's "Scores on the Doors" scheme, for two years in a row since the beginning of the scheme is just one example. Four Stars shows that we've been recognised by the local Environmental Services as a food business with a "Very Good food safety management and high standards of compliance with food safety legislations".

But it's what our customers think that we care about most. If we can make your experience at St Nicholas Patisserie an enjoyable and memorable one, then we've cracked it. We want you to get right into the whole St Nicholas Patisserie experience and become a regular, which is why we've tried to sort out a site that's not only user-friendly but informative. If you have anything to say about what we've done - whether we've done it well or badly - we really would like to hear from you. Really!

Our Motto: Healthier options, from traditional recipes.

We pride ourselves in providing you with a first class service and our No. 1 priority is your health and satisfaction. We constantly do our best to provide you with a wide choice of delicious healthy options using the original traditional recipes from all around the continent. That's why our croissants are the best you can get this side of The Channel!

Our Team

All our staff are fully trained and certified in Food Hygiene. They are always happy to go that extra mile to bring a smile on your face.

Why the name?

St. Nicholas is one of the most important Saints in all our history. He was born probably to wealthy parents at Patara in Lycia, a province of Asia Minor. He was chosen bishop of the poor diocese of the capital of Myra in the 4th Century, which he ruled with great care and faith. By the time of Justinian in the 6th Century, a basilica was built in his honour at Constantinople.

From the 9th Century in the East and the 11th Century in the West, he has been one of the most popular saints and the subject of many legends. The most famous legend is about the dowry of the three young girls. The kindness of St. Nicholas to the three sisters is known as "The Visit of St. Nicholas". In 1822, Clement C. Moore wrote his famous poem, "A Visit From St. Nicholas", which was published as "The Night Before Christmas". The poem is considered the basis for the modern-day image of Santa Claus, who comes down the chimneys each year on the night of Dec. 6; the next morning good girls and boys find gifts left by Santa.

Everyone knows that St Nicholas is the patron Saint of sailors, travellers, merchants and most importantly children. However only a few might know that he's also the patron Saint of bakers! When we started up, we had a big passion for creating a model food business and a very small capital; that's why we needed the protection of such a powerful patron.
